Biographical Statement

Dr. Christopher Egert is an Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Games and Media at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Egert was a co-creator of both the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Game Design and Development degree programs. He was also the first Associate Director of Interactive Games and Media.

Dr. Egert earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He also earned his Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Egert has expertise in both the design and technical aspects of game development and new media technologies.

Dr. Egert’s interests include the development of game engines and interactive simulations as well as the exploration of topics related to interactive world design, digital media experiences, and entertainment technologies. In particular, Dr. Egert has interests in the educational, social, and cultural impact of entertainment and game technologies, the preservation of game history and related technologies, as well as the use of games for education and social change.
