Web-based Integrated Development Environment
Abstract
The Web Integrated Development Environment (W-IDE) is a web-based development tool meant to show that the Ajax methodology can be used to build tools that, to date, have predominately been desktop applications. First, the shortcomings of the desktop architecture will be discussed and the concepts and ideas behind IDEs, web apps, and Ajax explored. Then, the specification of the project is explained, followed by a walkthrough of the resulting software. Finally, a discussion of a few things I learned about using the technologies involved and ideas for future development.
