ImagineCup 2013

Three Events!

Prizes! Networking with industry professionals! Learning something new! Having fun! And yes, some free food ☺. We actually have three events as part of the "ImagineCup/Halloween Hack-a-Thon" weekend, as described below:

  • ImagineCup@RIT
ImagineCup is a yearly Microsoft competition in which multiple teams compete in a variety of challenges in the US and around the world. Microsoft has graciously offered to sponsor a weekend "jam"/hack-a-thon at RIT to inspire more teams to compete. Microsoft is sponsoring prizes for the best ImagineCup@RIT projects. We're focusing on games, but all projects are welcome.
  • IMG Halloween Hack-a-Thon
Along with ImagineCup, the Interactive Media Guild (IMG) will hold a simultaneous hack-a-thon that will encourage Halloween theme. But they will accept any submissions with Halloween ones being held in higher regards when it comes to judging. They will also hold other smaller competitions, like a costume contest and will award small (gag) prizes, like candy, rubber band balls, and maybe some other silly things.
  • Construct2 Workshop
As part of the hack-a-thon, Microsoft is also sponsoring a free workshop on Sat, 11/2, 10AM-2PM, on Construct2, which is "a powerful ground breaking HTML5 game creator designed specifically for 2D games. It allows anyone to build games — no coding required!"

Registration

Visit Eventbrite to register. Yes, we have a Facebook event page, but we're using the Eventbrite list for the official registration.

Location

The School of Interactive Games & Media at Rochester Institute of Technology is currently the only host for ImagineCup in the region. IGM belongs to the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences in Buildings 70 and 13 ("Orange Hall"). See also Getting to RIT and RIT Campus Maps.
